Making the Internet a Safe Playground for Children

The Two Faces of the Internet

The internet can be many places especially for the youth. It can be a playground, a school, a library, and many many more. Sometimes it becomes a place where young children simply don't belong. But there they are. (Don't blame them. They just don't know any better!) Their curiosity will lead them everywhere and anywhere for the good, the bad, and the very bad. And the number of unfortunate incidents is growing rapidly.

Protect the Loved Ones

WEPPLE features Family Mode for children and young adults. It filters out "bad words" and blocks access to websites that have not been approved by WEPPLE. That's more than 99% of the Internet.

Google SafeSearch

Google has a SafeSearch mode which blocks adult content on their search results. It is a great feature and it should be turned on and locked for young children at all times. WEPPLE tries to implement the feature into all Google searches generated from WEPPLE automatically.

Why Google SafeSearch Is Not Enough

Your child can directly access any website easily by typing in a website address like "www.******.com" in the address bar. Also, it is not all that difficult to turn SafeSearch off or use another search engine like Duck Duck Go, which a lot of parents are unaware of.

Use Firefox Browser with Family Mode

We not only recommend using WEPPLE as the homepage but also using Mozilla Firefox as the only browser installed on the computer that your child has access to. This is because Firefox lets you remove the address bar on top of the browser unlike Chrome and Internet Explorer. Getting rid of the address bar and only allowing access to websites from WEPPLE is one more layer that you can implement between your loved one(s) and whatever is out there.

WEPPLE Is Not Enough Either

Unfortunately, there is no one-step method that will protect children and young adults from the Internet. But WEPPLE is trying. Google is too. Now, it's your turn.
